114 THE HOBART HERALD. giant guard, breaking through the interference and downing the runner in his tracks. After two attempts at bucking the center, which resulted in no gain, the ball was lost on a fumble. Good gains were then made around the end by Elliott and McCabe, and Service, after successfully bucking the line, plunged through for a touch-down, from which Davis kicked a goal. The wedge failed to gain, and two more trials being made, without re sult the full-back dropped back for a kick which was ably returned by Davis - Shortly afterwards Seneca Falls fumbled and Kirby fell on the ball- Here passing the end of the line, Davis breaking away from the interference cross ed the line for another touch-down. No goal resulted. The first half ended with the ball on Seneca Falls’ ten yard line. Score 14 to o. The second half was more interesting, Hobart trying to heap up the score, Seneca Falls endeavoring to gain time by slow playing. The ball was in Hobart territory at times during the first h a l f ; but in this half the home team got down to work, and made Seneca Falls fight almost entirely on her own ground. Touch-downs were made at will, Davis, Service, Case and Wakeman adding to the score. Four goals were kicked swelling the score at the call of time to 42 to o. The playing of Davis, Service and Wakeman was especially worthy of comment. The tackling and the line work were good, the men not only- blocking but breaking through in good style. In fact, the work in general wTas a great improvement over that at Canandaigua and gives much hope for the future. Hobart lined up as follows : Deft end, Bachman, (Capt.), Right tackle, Kirby, Deft tackle, Dehman, Right end, Case, Deft guard, Richardson, Quarter back, Harris, Center, Wakeman, Deft half-back, Service, Right guard, Elliott, Right half-back, Me Cabe, Full back, Davis.
