Find The Herald on In Memory ·of Marie By Aislinn Raftis '15, Managing Editor and Morgan Gilbard '15, Editor-in-Chief We are sure everyone had the same reactions as we did when we opened President Gearan's email a few weeks ago. \WHAT? He wrote, \I am saddened to report that Marie Mularski, a colleague in Saga Dining Hall, passed away on Saturday. Marie, who worked at the Colleges since 2008, welcomed students to Saga on weekends.\ We each had many conversations with Marie while she swiped our IDs about all kinds of things, ranging from the weather to her family. I think we've lost count of the number of times she worried that Saga would close if we didn't move fast enough; \brunch closes in 5 minutes. Huriy girls!\ and would then proceed to chat with us while we tried to edge away. For so many students, Marie was the person who marked the start of their Saturday morning. She always had a kind word to say and was never without a smile. She was especially sweet to us whenever we walked into Saga alone, but could quickly transition to joking around with the football team. We noticed when Marie was not at Saga's front desk. While she was always taking care of other people, we never thought that she inight need to be taken care of too. This is not to say that we didn't care about her; I have yet to meet a student with a bad word for her. In his email, President Gearan described the reaction of the HWS student body to the news of an illness in Marie's family: \The affection of students was so great that when an illness in Marie's family caused her to take a leave of absence, it was the letters and cards from students that inspired her return.\ Marie will be deeply missed by all the students whose lives she touched, whether it was by her smile, her sweetness or her concern for us. Our thoughts, wishes and condolences are with her family. ·· ... ' •. -- 11111!111--------. 1 visit us at · · 1 1hwstheherald.com for new1 •content every 2 weeks! I I . I . ___________ .. . .
