Annual country fair features Elvis Presley impersonator St. Charles Borromeo, Greece — Roman Catholics vexed by the metaphysical implica- tions of Elvis Presley's alleged resurrection in recent years may find some insight into the is- sue at the parish's 10th annual country fair from Friday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 2. John Streb, an Elvis impersonator, will be perform- ing at a \sock hop\ featuring '50s and '60s mu- sic on Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the school hall. Tickets may be bought in advance at the rec- tory for $4 and are $5 at the door. The fair continues Saturday with a variety of activities in the school gym, arts and crafts stores in the school classrooms and several in- door and outdoor restaurants including Ger- man Haus, Pie Parlor and Cafe St. Charles. The fair concludes Sunday with a steamship- round-of-beef dinner in the school hall from 12-6 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for sen- ior citizens, and $4 for children under 12. The four-year scholarship is given to an incoming freshman each year in memory of Peter Castle, an alumni of Cardinal Mooney and a tutor in the City School District. The scholarship winners are chosen with an emphasis on character, need and academic achievement. • • • Seven teens from St. Cecilia/St. John Par- ishes in Elmira participated in a week-long workcamp mission in Wheelersburg, Ohio, July 10-16. Joe Agan, Biilie Sue Doan, Mark Murray, Michelle Fan-brother, Dawn Randall, Kris Shoeberlein and Tom Webb joined ap- proximately 400 young people from across the country in repairing and weatherizing homes of the poor and elderly in the Wheelersburg area. The seven were accompanied on the trip by the parishes' youth minister, Anne Karski, and a parent, Ray Schoeberiein. • • • Father Donald F. Schwab vered the key- note address at the American Association for the Continuity of Care sixth annual confer- ence, \Quality & Care — Transitions;' Friday, Sept. 23, in Chicago. Father Schwab, director of pastoral care at Rochester General Hospi- tal, spoke on the topic, \Health Care: Rites and Rights of Passage?' Most Precious Blood, Rochester — Father William Graf, pastor, will be honored at a din- ner dance in the parish hall on Saturday, Oct. 1. The dance will follow a cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Father Graf is being honored for his efforts to stabilize the parish's finances. Tickets are $17.50 per person and $35 per couple. Neighbors Brother Daniel McNeill, TOR, formerly of Holy Cross Parish in Rochester, was one of eight men who, this fall, entered the pre- novitiate program for the Franciscans, Third Order Regular, Sacred Heart of Jesus Province, Loretto, Pa. McNeill, who taught computer science and mathematics at Nazareth Acade- my from 1985 to 1988, will be living in Bonaventure Hall, Mount Assisi Monastery, in Loretto for the next year while taking classes at St. Francis College and attending work- shops, seminars and conferences on religious life. In June 1989, he is scheduled to enter the Third Order Regular novitiate program. Aquinas Institute has added several new faculty members for the 1988/89 school year: Brian Buff, global studies, drama and econom- ics, and directing school dramatic productions; Jeanne Cimino, Latin and helping moderate the library; Susan Dodd, studio art and basic drawing; Carol Jones, physical education and health; Vonda McLenon, health and biology; Peter Meinhold, English and social studies; Jesse Santiago, theology; and Guy Trudel, English. • • • At the September 6 and 7 meeting of the Pri- ests Council, Father Louis Hohman, pastor of St. Louis Church in Pittsford, was elected chairman for the coming year.
