For Advertising Information Caii: 328-4340 Hilton Knights plan brunch St. Leo, Hilton — The St. Leo's Council Knights of Columbus 9641 will host a parish brunch on Sunday, Feb. 14 in the parish hall following the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Only 150 tick- ets are available, and will be sold on a first- come-first-served basis. Brunch is free for chil- dren under age six. A year ago, the Knights' first brunch drew 200 people, including children. Because of the event's success, the council — which was acti- vated in early 1987 — decided to continue the event. One of the council's goals is to develop family-oriented activities for the parish. Shroud researcher to give talk Guardian Angels, Henrietta — Dr. Harry Gove, professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester, will be the guest speaker at an adult-education program the par- ish is conducting on Sunday, Feb. 14. Dr. Gove and his colleagues at UR were un- til last month among seven research teams designated by the Vatican to conduct scientif- ic tests designed to determine the age of the Shroud of Turin, long believed to be the buri- al cloth of Christ. He also participated in a 1978 research project during which scientists conducted preliminary tests on the shroud. Recently, however, Dr. Gove announced that the Vatican had narrowed the list of approved research facilities, eliminating UR from cur- rent consideration. During the Guardian Angels presentation, the professor will discuss the findings of studies conducted to date. The public is invit- ed to attend his presentation, which will be- gin at 7:30 p.m. in the church, 2061 E. Hen- rietta Road. Nathan R. Kollar, Ph.D., professor of reli- gious studies at St. John Fisher College, has received a faculty enrichment grant from the Canadian Government to study Canadian religions in order to compare them with those of the United States. Dr. Kollar will spend the' summer researching Canadian religions in preparation for teaching a course called \North American Religions!' Kollar has written a number of articles deal- ing with religion in Canada. He has served as the director of the Resource Centre for the Study of Religion in North America. He is list- ed in Who's Who in American Catholicism, Directory of American Scholars, vol. 4; Inter- national Who's Who in Education and Who's Who in the East (18th ed.). He earned a bach- elor of arts degree at St. Bonaventure Univer- sity, a master's degree from the University of Notre Dame, an S.T.B. from Lateran Universi- ty in Rome, and an STL and STD from Cath- olic University in Washington. Carol Ann Palmer, an Aquinas Institute sen- ior, has been recognized as one of the out- standing student scholars in the Rochester area secondary schools by the Phi Beta Kap- pa Iotta of New York Chapter at the Univer- sity of Rochester. Mrs. Vilma Goetting, chairwoman of Aquinas' science department, Invites all so Religic Parish Notes Organ concert slated in Corning St. Vincent de Paul, Corning — The par- ish's second-annual organ concert is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m. in the church, Ellicott and Dodge Avenue. The concert will feature organist Dr. David Jenkins, director of music and liturgy at St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads. He will perform a pro- gram consisting of works by Niels Gade, Ce- sar Frahck, Helmut Walcha, Johannes Brahms, Dale Wood, Wilbur Held and J.S. Bach. Group to sponsor healing Mass St. Pius X, Rochester — Father John A. Lu- bey of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., will preside at a Mass for healing Monday, Feb. IS, at the parish. The celebration will consist of a eucharistic liturgy, including a sermon on inner healing, followed by individual blessings at the altar. The Mass is being sponsored by the St. Pius X Charismatic Prayer Group. Father Lubey has served as a priest in the Washington archdiocese for more than 40 years. He has retired from parish work in or- der that he might devote his full energy to the ministry of spiritual and physical healing.
