Blood inventory pro- jections predict very low blood sup- plies in December and January. While vacations begin and many schools close, most people are busy with holi- day celebrations, yet the demand for blood remains constant. Every Friday from 2:15 to 7:45 pm and on the second Saturday of each month (January 14 and February 11 from 7:30 am to 12:45 pm), Long Island Blood Services visits Mather Hospital, Port Jefferson to provide local residents and the hospital com- munity the opportunity to donate blood. Community residents are invited and encouraged to call (800) 933- BLOOD to make an appointment.
