Performance at library The show tune-performing trio comprised of pianist Ann Stevens, baritone Tony Castano and ° soprano Jeannette Reynolds is scheduled to per- form holiday standards from Broadway and the big screen in their new show called Happy Holidays! on Friday, December 9 at 7:30 pm in the Northport Public Library. Photo courtesy of Jeff Nien Village urges town to buy farm Residents on soapbox to save Lewis Oliver landmark BY JOSHUA DIAMANT Friends of the Farm, the non- profit group that is working to pre- serve the Lewis Oliver Farm in Northport, received a significant. if symbolic boost Tuesday when the Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously to urge the Town of Huntington and Suffolk County to acquire the farm for preservation. The vote was preceded by a number of - impassioned speeches from Fnends of the Farm members Denise Hamill sad she was \looking to share a unique and edu cational expenence with my chil- dren close to home ~ Lee Wiltamuth, who grew up down the street from the farm and worked there many a summer, said, \It's been a second home to me We can't get back Karls Manners Inn. and we may lose the shellfish industry in Northport. but we have a chance at this point if we act now to preserve the Lewis Oliver Dairy for future generations to enjoy the ani mals and the camaraderie that 1 brings ~ Contmued on page All Northport Theater gala features prominent guest BY ELISE PEARLMAN The Northport Arts Coalition's (NAC) open house at the Northport Theater, which is scheduled for December 16 from 7:30 to 11 pm, will feature entertainment to give people a taste of things to come. \The theater hasn't seen live perfor- mances in 40 years\ said NAC Chairwoman Isabella Eredita Johnson. who said she hopes the event will increase community awareness and sup- port for the theater's anticipated future role as a ing arts venue. Between 8 and 9 pm next Friday evening, guests will be treated to perfor- mances by the Bare Bones Theater Company, - the - Northport - Opera Company. the Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble and jazz saxophonist Shenole Latimer. There will also be a Middle Eastern music and dance performance. As the night progresses. there will be infor- mal musical entertainment as guests min- __ gle. \It's a real social and party event.\ during which the old vaudeville stage, long hidden by a permanent movie screen, will be revealed, Eredita Johnson sard.
