More photos, page A11 r elections heat up Residents asked to vote on Tuesday; two out of four seats contested BY PATRICIA PROVEN districts are secking election to commis- sioner seats, with competition for two seats in East Northport and Eaton's Neck. All seats up for election are for five-year terms unless otherwise noted. Dr. Jack Geffken is an active 24-year firefighter and has d the past four years as Centerport Fire District commis- o He is running unopposed for a full term. Geffken said he wants to see through the construction of the firehouse addition and continue the good work the board of the firehouse addition started November 2 and is scheduled for completion May 28, 2006, district manager John Engberg said. Gcffken works as an internist at Winthrop University Hospital in Bethpage and has reccived numerous awards and commendations for his volun- teer service, such as the department's res- cue person of the year honor in 1993. He is a certified American Red Cross and ACLS instructor and is trained in Advanced Trauma Life Support. He also has served as EMS medical director for eight fire districts on Long Island; and as EMS advisor to the Town of Huntington Association of Fire Chiefs, among other Geffken and his wife have four chil- dren.
