Such programming repre- sents a valuable tool for stimulating chil- dren's cognitive development.\ Young children who watch less TV more likely to finish college Children who watch the most televi- sion during childhood and adolescence may be less likely to finish school or go on to earn a university degree, according to a long-term study of New Zealand children. Information about the children's televi- sion viewing habits was collected at two- year intervals from ages five to 15. Information on the highest level of edu- cational attainment was collected for 980 study members (96 percent) at 26 years of age. Lower hours of TV viewing between the ages of five and 11 were a strong pre- dictor of earning a university degree, the researchers found. \The results of this study indicate that increased time spent watching television during childhood and adolescence was associated with a lower level of educational attaunment by early adulthood,\ the authors concluded. 'These effects were independent of intel- ligence, family socioeconomuc status and childhood behavioral problems.\ I NTR O0 D UV CIN G ULTRA-LCC THE ULTIMATE SOLIDSAFETY SWIMMING POOL COVER-\EXCLUSIVELY?!” lOOP-lOC! ‘ “absggeslpoolcovermmvahon andecodes UHTRALOC's revolutmry \reversal 15 MWMMdesdtdwnylcovefs!
