The game started off quick vyith both teams going right at each other with man-to-man pressure all over, the court. St. Matthews came put blaz- ing hot in the second half and tpok the lead over GBC mid-way through the quarter. GBC went on to win the game by a final score of 38 to 34. Mor riarty finished with 11 points, while Dollard, Wine and Grabek all had six points. GBC 7th-Grade CWtooy$ oflf to strong start, 2 wins in league play GUILDERLAND — The Guil- derland Catholic Youth Organi- zation seventh grade team has gotten off to a 2 to 1 start in its league play. On Dec. 6* Guilder- land dominated both ends of the court in its opening game against St, John's, winning by a score of 40 to 15.; Jeffrey Easley led all .scorbrs with 10 points, while also COn- tributing two assists. Andrew Kemp kicked in eight pdints, while Zach Hutson had eight points and three steals, in a strong defensive effort. Coming back just a day later on Dec, 7, Guilderland rah up against a Very strong teafli from Sacred Heart of Trby it was a tight affair from beginning to end. Guilderland pulled out to the lead, building a 20 to 16 lead at the end of the first half. Sacred Heart came back strong in the second half, and was able to take away a One point victory over Guilderland, 41 to 40. Zach Hutson scored 13 points in the losing effort, while Zach Malitz and Ryan Marino pulled down 10 and seven rebouhds respectively, Dayid Bbbersky had three assists, while Jeff Easley's strong defense provided 'five'?s'te.al&'.'. : ---' Oh Saturday, Guilderland faced Sacred Heart of Castleton at Guilderland High SchbbL Although both teams started slowly, Guilderland began scor- ing, and never looked back, winning easily by a score of 49 to 9. Zach Forrhicahad a double- double (13 points, 13 rebounds), while Jkcob Sturn contributed to the scoring with his game high three assists: Guilderland will next play in the Averili Park Holiday tourna- ment on Dec. 27 and 28.
