(PHONE AND FAX) Altamdnt, NY •$9 By Diane Cameron • Victor G. Eoss, one of the three co-founders of Community Caregivers, passed, away on Nov. 11, 2006. Vic was the initial impetus in bringing the Parish Nurse program concept to Altampnt. Along with Mary Therriault and Joel Edwards, our other co-founders, Vic developed the Community Care- givers program modeled after portions of the National Parish program and the National Inter- faith Volunteer Caregiver pro- gram. His vision and understanding of the needs of people in the area were instrumental in develop- ment of the program services still included in the Community Caregivers program today. Vic served as the leader of the original organizing committee of 20 individuals and guided the development of the organiza- tional structure and procure- ment of funding over a two year period until the direction of the organization was turned over to its first board of directors. Vic continued to serve as a member of the board of directors for an additional three years. During this time his leadership, vision, and sensitivity were major reasons for the successful begin- ning of the Community Care- givers' program. ' Vic was a gentle, kind, soft- spoken, modest, and humble person who preferred to let other people take the spotlight. His empathy with people in need and his vision for how to make a difference in their livers became the core of the Community Care- givers' mission. Following his service as a member of the board of directors, Vic continued to mentor successive presidents of the organization as well as pro- viding volunteer services. In life, we are fortu- nate when paths cross with someone that helps you reach for the stars and leaves you a better person than you were. I consider Vic Ross one of those people.\ When asked to comment on Vic Ross, Joel Edwards replied, \Vic was a devoted husband and an inspiration. His quiet loving style, his sincerity and integrity were examples for all of us. Vic led with clarity and conviction; he brought out the best in those around him, never accepting any credit himself. He was a deeply spiritual man, fun to be around, an impeccable dresser who was most at peace alone on a country road or a hidden path in the woods. He remains the single most important reason the Community Caregivers organi- zation got its start. I will miss him dearly.\ We at Community Caregivers extend our sincere sympathy to Vic's wife, Mary Anne, and to his extended family. We are forever indebted to this wonderful man who gave so much of himself for others. @§¥E THE GIFT OF PEACE OF MIND SAFETY - SECURITY - SAVINGS All wrapped up in one.
