The board chairman, Dave. Atkinsen, has work planned in several ;arje,as ? so there will be something for everyone. The board is very pleased with the Civil .W£r Encampment of last week and watitstp get busy with the building: tpt, as with the encampment, we need the sup- port of the coimnuiiity. Come for whatever time you can give. v Thank you, Enterprise, for the great advertising and coverage, especially to Tyler Schilling for his reporting. Raye Saddlemire Westerlo Museum Meeting neighbors a benefit of successful Plum Fest - To the Editor We had a successful Plum Fest> Thank you to all the people of the area who came. The Feura Bush Neighbor- hood Association especially wants to thank everyone who was involved in the planning and staging of the Plum Fest. The dedication, creativity, and effort shown by the people of Feura Bush was really impres- sive. Thanks also to the members of the New Scotland Historical Association for their help. Thanks to Susan D. Kidder, the Town of New Scotland Senior Outreach Liaison, for her planning and. coordination of the health fair, and to all the volunteers involved in that. Darrell Duncan, highway superintendent; Pat Geurtze, highway clerk; and many workers of the Town of New Scotland Highway Department installed the historical markers, were crucial in getting up Plum Fest signs and supplying safety cones that slowed the traffic. The support from the New Scotland Town Board and recre- ation Committee was appre- ciated in financing the evening's musical entertainment. The Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Company participated in the children's parade, which was a great success. A big thank you to them. The Plum Fest would not have been possible without those who supported us financially: Peter K. Frueh Inc., excavating con- tractor; Bethlehem Self Storage; Selkirk COGEN; Stewart's Foundation; GE Plastics; and Robert J. Smith Plumbing. Besides having a fun day, the activities for the children, the greatest benefit was in getting to know some of our neighbors better, or meeting them for the first time. Judith Wing Plum Fest chair Feura Bush » , , , Tim Matteson is like John Madden To the Editor: Lkst year my son, P J Hog- nestad's name was in your paper so many times along with Nick. Duncan and Andy Catteher. All were exceptional players on the Voprheesville football team. But my son, P.J., felt bad at times that he got newspaper Ji fame when he knew the guys in the trenches were giving him and others the opportunity to shine. He said, \I was running over my brother's back to score and Sean never got the credit.\ I read an article from #99 [Wayne], Gretzky, the Great One of hockey. He compared his sport to football and said that the hockey defensemen were the offensive and defensive line. And these defensivemen won games; wings and centers scored points. Your Tim Matteson always does an excellent job covering local sports, but two weeks ago, I was so impressed with the credit he gave the Blackbirds lineman. I called P.J. who is now a running back for the University of Rochester. He was excited and said Tim is like John Madden, calling an NFL game — \big old lineman, big Old lineman, big old lineman,\ Tim, you write great sports and thank, you for covering all kids' sports and acknowledging the unsung heroes. Paul C. Hognestad Voorheesville -. ~ Bicentennial thank-yous To the Editor: The 2006 Potter Hollow Bi- centennial celebration was a huge success. We want to thank all of you who donated to the restoration of the Potter Hollow one-room schoolhouse. A huge thank-you goes to the Cotter Family for the use of their property and farm and pony rides for the children. A great big thank-you also goes to the Tri-Village Fire Company a^nd Rensselaerville Ambulance Service, the Rens- selaerville Historical Society, the Rensselaerville Library, the Preston Hollow postmaster for handling the hundreds of postal cancellations, the Haskins family members with their 21-foot family tree and history, the Ghost Riders band who played almost four hours .of great music, Potter Palmer IV who came all the way from Chicago to honor his family's roots, Safe Chiid/MECC, the >lacksmith who specializes in i9th-Century iron working, and the wool-spin- ning demonstrator.
