This- week, St. Lucy's Parish Center is a beehive of activity as many hands work to prepare the varieties of food served at •the Church Restaurant at the Altamont Fair. Altamont Seniors will not meet. Perhaps some will visit the fair instead. Remember that we have been offered the convenience of transportation within the fair-grounds by means of golf cart. To arrange for it, call the fair office at 861- 6671. I'm sure many of those who were at the Glimmerglass picnic last week noticed my failure to mention in last week's column that our strolling minstrel, Brother Anthony, was witn\ us, and played his accordion for quite a while, after our lunch. He is so generous sharing his talent, and we always enjoy it. My apology to Brother Tony for forgetting to include that in the column. Coining up Next Tuesday, Aug. 22, our activity is a luncheon at the '76 Diner in Latham. Remember to notify Winnie Klenotiz if there are any changes to make, either in placing a reservation or to cancel. Her number is 861-5161. The school bus will be at the parish center to pick us up at 11:30 a.m. • States of Mind Did you know there are such towns as these? Harmony, Calif.; Inspiration, Ariz.; Truth or Con- sequences, N.M. (we probably have all heard of that one.); Comfort, Texas; Pride, Ala.; Hope, Miss.; Triumph, La.; Glory, Georgia; Love, Va.; Justice, W.Va.; Bliss, N.Y.; Unity, N.H.; Friendship, Maine; Honor, Michigan; Faith, S.D.; Freedom, Wyo.; Wisdom, Montana; and Joy, 111. The history of the naming of these places would be interesting to learn about. These are all mentioned in a book titled States of Mind, by Brad Herzog, fun to read. Visit the fair In closing, I hope that all are enjoying this wonderful change in the weather. Don't forget to visit the fair. The flower building is always a delight. I especially have a warm spot in my heart for any and all of the animals! Looking back Looking back to 1975, the activity on Aug. 19 must have been quite a treat for the Seniors. They were transported to Sara- toga Performing Arts Center for the Victor Borge show. His performances are so delightful, and such fun. I've been wondering if any of our longtime members recall any of these activities being mentioned in the column. Peace. lilderland :• • ; :^^§|piipr sQf Guilderland ;, Sector. Barcomb said the reason the special-use permit was approved this year was because the Aliens had a representative, Tim Fitz- patrick, of Delmar, work with the town during the permit proc- ess. The board approved the per- mit by a vote of 6-0, with mem- ber Robert Simpson absent. \They had a broker...This fel- low seem to follow through and knew what was needed,\ said Barcomb, who added that Fitz- patrick put together all of the necessary information to grant the special-use permit.
