26 The Altamont Enterprise - Thursday, March 9, 2006 Wedding Rebecca and Gianleo Duca Dawson, Duca marry Rebecca Dawson and Gianleo Duca were wed at St. Mary's Church in Ballston Spa on July 2, 2005. The Reverend Father Toole officiated. The bride is the daughter of Michael and Gail Dawson of Swift Road in Voorheesville. The groom is the son of Antonio and Tina Duca of Waltham, Mass. Erika Fruend was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Daigle, Jannelle Murray, Jen Adams, Brie McCqrmack, Bridget Mayer, Sue DiMarco, and Abby Swerda. Mike Cincotta was best man. Ushers were Matt McKenzie, Joe Malone, Terry Heinz, Dan Tortolla, Tim Mahoney, Ben Dawson, Tho- mas Duca, and Marco Duca. The bride is a graduate of Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville and Western New England College. She has a master's degree in business administration from Emerson College, and is em- ployed by Endo Pharmaceuticals. The groom is a graduate of Waltham High School and Western New England College. He has a master's degree from Salem State College, and is employed as a teacher at Medford High School. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and resides in Waltham, Mass. Bowen on duty at Fort Stewart GUILDERLAND. — Army Sgt. Ward H. Bowen Jr. has arrived for duty at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga. Bowen, a heavy construction equipment operator, is assigned to the 92nd Engineer Combat Battalion. The staff sergeant has served in the military for eight years. He is the son of Ward Bowen Sr. of West Chazy, N.Y., and Mitzie M. Smith in Guilderland. His wife, Vicki, is the daugh- ter of Micheal and Jill Perry of Saranac, N.Y. In 1991, the soldier graduated from Ausable Valley High School in Clintonville, N.Y. Cohn completes Air Force basic training Adam Cohn GUILDERLAND — Air Force Airman Adam Cohn has gradu- ated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of train- ing, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and spe- cial training in human relations. He is the son of Jeffery Cohn of Placid Drive in Guilderland, and Jill Cohn of Willsie Road in East Berne. Cohn is a 2004 graduate of Guilderland High School. May A. Duncan H£i9 ALTAMONT — May Duncan had a lot of love to go around. She loved her family, her puppy, her flower garden, and still had room in her heart for the public to which she catered in the restaurant business for many years. Mrs. Duncan died peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany on Sunday, March 5. She was 75. \She loved being around people and out in the public, which is why she owned her own restaurant and then managed several at various state office locations,\ her daughter Susan Duncan said. Mrs. Duncan was the original owner of Duncan's Restaurant, now known as the Voorheesville Diner, which was first located on South Main Street and then moved to Voorheesville Av- enue. She ran the diner in the late 1950's and early '60's. After selling the business, Mrs. Duncan became the manager for Interstate United Foods and DAKA Foods on the 29\' floor of the Empire State Plaza in Albany and of the Capitol Restaurant. She retired in 1992 and came back to the village of Voorheesville to work, finding em- ployment at SuperValu how named Nichols' Market. \She made friends easily,\ Susan Duncan said of her mother. Mrs. Duncan deeply missed her husband and best friend, Grover C. Duncan, over the last four years, her daughter said. He died in 2002. She affectionately called him by the May A. Duncan They were married for 53 years, nickname \D Ms. Duncan said. \I tell everyone that they are together now trying to decide whether to go bowling or go golfing; if it's golf then Dad is polishing her golf clubs,\ she said. \They both enjoyed doing those sports together.\ Bowling was always a family affair, James Duncan said, as he offered a few thoughts on his mother. \She would come to watch matches whenever one of her grandchildren were bowling,\ Mr. Duncan said. 'They are together now trying to decide whether to go bowling or go golfing.' She also would always come to watch his matches as well, Mr. Duncan said. He is now the bowling coach for Clayton A. Bouton High School. Up until two weeks ago, Mrs. Duncan was bowling herself, her son said. She bowled in many leagues over 50 years, Ms. Duncan said, naming Weaver Lanes, Town' n' Country, Westlawn, and Del Lanes. It was one of her favorite pastimes along with visiting her grandchildren, who where her pride and joy, she said. Her newest \baby\ of two years was Snickers a black lab who \she called a little devil, but loved anyway,\ Ms. Duncan said. She also enjoyed watching and feeding wild birds; the cardinal was her favorite. Other interests included gardening, cooking, traveling, and belonging to the ladies auxiliary of Voorheesville's American Legion Post 1493. Born May 9,1930 to the late Herbert Moak Sr. and Alida V. Willsie, Mrs. Duncan is survived by her children, James Duncan and his wife, Patti, of Voorheesville; Ronald Duncan and his wife, Carol, of Medusa; and Susan Duncan of Altamont. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James Duncan Jr., Elisabeth Duncan, Katherine Duncan, Rebecca Duncan, and Nicole Welch- Judeikis. She is survived, too, by her brothers, Herbert Moak of McKownville, Donald Duncan of Voorheesville, and Harry Duncan of Rotterdam, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Dorothy, died before her, as did her brothers, William and Levi Moak. Calling hours were on Tuesday and a funeral service was held on Wednesday at the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland. House III EAST BERNE—Franklin J. House III died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was 33. Born in Albany, Mr. House was the son of Pamela J. Herchenroder House of East Berne and the late Franklin J. House Jr., who died in August 2005. Mr. House graduated from Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School in 1991 and then Hudson Valley Community College. He worked for the New York State Office of Temporary Disability Assistance as a computer programmer. He had also worked for the New York State Assembly and the New York State Office of Retardation and Developmental Disabili- ties as a computer operator. Mr. House enjoyed building and flying model planes, boating, camp- ing, and was a corriputer game enthusiast. Mr. House is survived by his wife, Jemima Blyth House, of Howes Cave; his 4-year-old daughter, Autumn Blithe House; his grandmother, Elizabeth House, of Albany; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers. A funeral service was held Saturday, March 4, at the McVeigh Funeral Home in Albany.
