Vincent De Costanzo chaired the meeting in the absence of Mayor Dorothy Storm who was away for a £iw days and had attended a legislative session of the New York Conference of Mayers in Albany this past wedeend. The Board was informed of alleged hazardous sidewalk conations a t two places of business on West Merrick Road a n d on Sooth Main Street ^ bn a recommendation by Chief of Polics Joeeph IQr^. Ruiz de Zarate requested that the Board approved a resolotion to board up three vacant properties a t 250 PmteTfield Place, 134 East Seaman Avenue and 2 Washington Street. Board members noted the ecet of the wotk and it was suggested that one ^ the owners might have requested that additional work be done hy the contrac­ tor. The Board stated that nothing other than necessary work can be done under this process whereby an ofRdal notice is first sent to owners. When they do not complete the work, the cost of the work is wtaessed u;Mn the land. If not paid within 30 days, the cost is added to the owner's tax levy. The matter will be looked at for resubmission for Board approval next week. The Bpard approved set­ ting up a special bank account in accordance with Planning and Community Development guidelines rela­ tive to ^ a n t monies for affordable housing.
