Zaluski EDWARDS - Phyllis Elaine Zaluski, 75, of Edwards, died Monday, October 2, 20O6 in Boca Raton, Florida while surrounded by her family. Born on March 11, 1931 in Edwards, the daughter of the late Harold J., Sr. and Ruby F. (Tmmble) Whitmarsh. . She graduated from Edwards Central School in 1948. She married Stanley Thomas Zaluski on September 9, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia. The couple had been married for 54 years. Mrs. Zaluski was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Phyllis leaves behind, to Cherish her memory; her husband Stanley, Edwards; two daughters and their husbands; Cindy Z. and Dennis C. Cress, Syracuse and Carol Z. and Mitchell D. Silver, Boca R.aton; a son, Thomas H. Zaluski, Fine; a brother and his wife, Arthur W. and B. Gail Whitmarsh, Edwards; a sister and her husband, Shirley A. and Frank Gagnon, Edwards; seven beautiful grandchildren, Mike and Stacy Cress, Rachel, Zachary, and Ben Silver, and Erica and Nicole Zaluski. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zaluski is predeceased by a brother, Harold J. Whitmarsh, Jr. and a sister, Janice A. Whitmarsh. There will -be a graveside service in Fairview Cemetery^ Edwards, on Saturday, October 7, 2O06 at 10 a.m., with William Strate and Marilyn Constatine, lay speakers of the Edwards United Methodist Church, officiating. Donations in Phyllis' name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, NY/ 13057. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to French Funeral Home, Edwards. Rodger R. Cole SPRAGUEVILLE - Rodger R. Cole, 64, Spragueville, died Thursday, September 28, 2O06, at his home, where he was under the care of his family and Hospice and Palliative Care of St., LawrenceValley. Mr. Cole worked for Gouverneur Cooperative for four years and then was a mill operator for St. Joe Mineral Corp., Edwards, later Zinc Corporation of America, retiring in 2000 after 38 years of service. Born Oct. 18, 1941, in Fullerville, son of Lewis D. and Helen E. Shampine Cole, he at- tended school at Fullerville, Balmat, Russell and Gouverneur. He married Elaine M. Willmert on Oct. 27, 1962, at Gouverneur Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating. Mr. Cole enjoyed restoring an- tiques, attending his grandchildren's ball games and 4-H. He and his wife enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students including Ivana and Ivna from Brazil, and Ida from Egypt. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter and her husband, Amy L. and Barry Turner, Spragueville; two brothers and their wives^Lep N. and Mavis, Fullerville, and James L. and Clare, Fowler; and two grandchildren, Lesley and Trent Turner. Two brothers, David L. and Richard R. died before him. ' The funeral was- Sunday, October 1, 2006, at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with the Rev. Dr. Wilfred J. Baez, pastor of Gouverneur United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Vrooman Hill Cemetery Antwerp. Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. Anna M. Hunt Anna May \Robbie\ Hunt, 72, Hermitage, Tennessee, a former resident of Gouverneur, died at the home of her daughter, Kathy Kitchen, of Hermitage, on September 14, 2006, following a courageous battle with COPD and lung cancer. Born August 28, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Lean and Jane Robertson. She grew up in Brockway, Pennsylvania, where she developed a strong love for animals and reading. She attended Marietta College in Ohio and graduated with a bachelor's degree in history. She continued her studies at Andover- Newton in Massachusetts and graduated with her master's degree in theology. In 1965, Robbie and her husband, Rev. Herbert Hunt, moved to Gouverneur, where she began a 25-year tenure of teaching high school history at Gouverneur High School. Upon retiring, Robbie moved to Asheville, NC. She became an active member of the Cathedral of All Souls Episcopalian Church and she served as a counselor for Alcoholics Anonymous groups. Due to health complications, she moved to Hermitage, TN and resided with her daughter Kathy for nearly a year. Surviving are, besides her daughter Kathy and her husband, David Kitchen, are another daughter, Valerie, and her husband, Shaun Brown, Gouverneur; a son, Mark and Patty (Taylor) Hunt, Liberty, Ohio; her brother and his wife, James and Nan Robertson, Dover, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, Rebecca and Sarah Hunt; David Jr. and Mefody Kitchen; and Isaac and Quiriton Lancto. Ray FOWLER - Vera Vivian Ray, .81, died on Friday, September 27, 2006 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley at the home of her sister,, Keitha Woodall, in Fowler, where she had resided for the past three years. Vera had lived in the Harrisville, Pitcairn, and Sylvia • Lake area most of her life. Born on April 11, 1925 in Gouverneur, she was the daughter of the late Claude R. and Beula A. (Heath) Bacon. She had attended school in Pitcairn. Throughout the years Vera has jointly leased and operated Beer Island on Lake Bonaparte and the Village Inn in Harrisville for several years. She also is a former operator of the Golden Glow Tavern in South Edwards. An avid antique collector, she had once operated an antiques shop in Watertown. She used to enjoy baking and decorating her home. She was always remodeling the interior of her house and was very proud of how it looked. Mrs. Ray also enjoyed spending time on Lake Bonaparte and Sylvia Lake. Her survivors include two sons and their companions; Myron Mike Houston and Nancy Simmons, Fremont, Nebraska, and David E. Parow and Uta Strobel-Burt, Harrisville; two sisters; Keitha Woodall, Fowler and Alice Cole, North Carolina, and a brother-in- law, Wallace Deitz, Sylvia Lake; she is also survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son James E. Connors; and a sister Edith Deitz. The funeral service was Saturday, September 30, 2006, at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with lay speakers William Strate and Marilyn Constatine officiating. Robert J. Mcintosh Robert Junior Mcintosh, 71, Wegatchie, formerly of Gouverneur, died ' Friday, September 29, 2006, at E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur. He was employed by Interna- tional Talc Co. for a time. Born August 24, 1935, in the town, of Gouverneur, son of Robert S. and Thelma A Morse Mcintosh, he graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1953. He served in the Air Force from 1954 until 1957, when he received an honorable discharge and served in the Air Force Reserves until 1962. He was a communication equipment repairman and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Zelphia Ann Klock on Oct. 11, 1958, at the Gouverneur Methodist parsonage with the Rev. William Woods Richard L. Macaulay The funeral Macaulay, Gouverneur. 3, 2O06, at Gouverneur. Mr. Macaulay died Saturday, September 30,2006, at his home. Tie was employed as a me- chanic at Edward-Knox Central School, Russell, and St. Lawrence Zinc Co., Balmat. Born Dec. 8, 1977, in Gou- verneur, he was the son of Ricky A. Law and Jacqueline Reed. His father died in 1982 at age 25 and he was raised by his mother and adoptive father, George Macaulay. He graduated in 1996 from Gouverneur High School and studied auto and diesel mechanics at the Tennessee School of Technology, Nashville. A marriage to Brandy Savage ended in divorce. Mr. Macaulay enjoyed hunting and participating in demolition derbies. Surviving are two sons, Zackary and Brock, both at home; his father and stepmother, George and Joni Macaulay, Gouverneur; a stepsister, Lindsay Newvine, Gouverneur; his paternal grandmothers, Dorothy Macaulay and Lillian Law, both of Gouverneur; his maternal grandmother, Louise Reed of Edwards; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
