The Jay/Black Brook Youth Commission will host a free-of-charge Fun Night At The Movies for students in kindergarten through sixth grade on Monday, Dec. 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hollywood Theatre in Au Sable Forks. The double feature will include a cur- rent children's movie along with a Christmas movie. Popcorn and soda will be provided for all those attending. A maximum of ninety children will be allowed to attend, so be there early to get your seat. The Upper Jay Post Office for the fourth year in a row will feature holiday films in its lobby to celebrate the holidays. The theatre, with real theatre seats and a cur- tained movie screen, will feature many special holi- day movies including Holiday Inn, Miracle on 34th Street, Mickey's ^(ghristjnas and several oth- - ers-. Popcorfi will be provid- ed and shows will be Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. through Dec. 23. For more information or to request a reservation for your special movie call 946-7182. The post office is located at 12197 state Route 9N in Upper Jay. Ward Lumber Company in Jay has announced the win- ners of their 16th Annual Buck Contest. Bob Bombard of Peru was the winner of the biggest buck category with his' 195 lb. 12-point buck. Patrick Mclntyre, of Wilmington, won the ran- dom drawing category with his 176 lb. 10-point buck. The winner of the big buck category won based on deer weight. All other entries were placed in a random drawing. Winners received a $100 Ward Lumber Gift Card and everyone who entered the contest received a Ward Lumber baseball cap. Ski and snowboard program The Town of Jay/Blackbrook Youth com- mission has announced a Ski and Snowboard program for youth in grades 3 to 12 who reside in the towns of Jay and Black Brook. The six- week program will be held at Whiteface Mountain and will feature a free two-hour lesson daily. The dates will be Jan. 11 and 25, Feb. 1 and 8, and March 1 and 8 with a rain date of March 15 if necessary. The price. of the lift tickets and optional .lessons is only $103. Six days of rentals will be avail- able for an additional $72. Helmets are required for all participants and are avail- able for rental at the ski shop for only $ 15 for the six days. Deadline for registration is Dec. 31 with no applica- tions being accepted after this date. Transportation and chaperones will be provid- ed. Registration forms are available at the school office or at the Town of Jay offices. Contact Toni Perez at 647-5313 for more infor- mation.
