The main thrust of S toraska’s 'method' is to mentally outwit the rapist. The agent he- vi-ews as the most important in outwit ting the w i n confidence. Alter he gains t ru st in you, says Mr. Storaska, vnu can usually come up with a p lan to free yourself. He used an example of a college co-ed who was at a dance and had just ‘-topped out for a cigarette. A- she was standing there, a man came up beside her, grabbed her arm. and said, 'You’re rnrni ng for a ride.' Thinking quickly, and most importantly, calmly, the girl answered, 'I'd to.' She then commented, ‘Didn’t I see you in the* dance?’ H e replied, 'Yes.' Bhe then said, I ’ve been watching you all night. Didn’t you see me follow you She pressed her body against his and kissed him, saying, T 11 just run inside and get my parse and then we’ll go.’ The atta.cker became so excited he ran down the road for his car and the gdri calmly walked hack screamed. T h e rapist w’as arrested waiting in his car and the girl was safe. This incidence dem o n s trates the effectiveness o f k e e p ing your head and using your imagination.
